Twitch streamer xQc has expressed his discontent with Epic Games.
He criticized the company for providing special treatment to streamers Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed.
xQc referred to this decision as an “L move” during a Fortnite marathon stream.
This marathon began just after Christmas when Kai and Speed announced they would play continuously until they secured a win.
However, their popularity led to an unavoidable issue.
They encountered stream snipers, which occurs when viewers attempt to target a streamer in-game by knowing their live location.
To address the problem, Epic Games granted the two streamers the ability to instantly ban any stream sniper simply by reporting them.
When xQc learned about this, he voiced his disapproval on X/Twitter.
He stated it was a poor decision, saying, “I think that’s brain-dead.”
He further added that it was unfair, asserting, “If you give special treatment, give it to everybody. Everybody’s as valuable.”
xQc clarified that he wasn’t envious of the special treatment.
He emphasized that it’s about improving the game and assisting everyone rather than just a select few.
This viewpoint sparked mixed reactions from his fans.
Some understood xQc’s frustrations and noted that he has experienced significant stream sniping himself.
Eventually, Colin and Speed completed their marathon after 57 hours and enduring 206 losses before finally achieving victory in their 207th game.
The challenge intensified as they approached the end. In a final 2v1 situation, Kai was knocked out, but Speed managed to secure the win in a tense 1v1 battle against the last opponent, allowing them to conclude their streams.
Earlier in December, xQc and Kai had a brief feud where they showcased their wealth to each other, but they later reconciled.
Opinions on xQc’s comments were mixed. Some fans pointed out that understanding the level of stream sniping he has faced would help others grasp his perspective.
Others suggested that Kai and Speed should implement a stream delay, which many streamers use to avoid being targeted by stream snipers. One fan remarked, “Just add a delay and call it a day, or treat everyone the same. No one is special, including them.”
Conversely, others felt that the special privileges granted to these two popular streamers were warranted. “If they had to deal with stream snipers, their marathon would never end,” claimed one supporter.
Another fan noted that they are the most followed streamers collaborating with one of the biggest games, suggesting that some level of protection was to be anticipated in this scenario.
