Popular streamer Valkyrae disagrees with fans who claim she resembles Pokimane.
She believes these comparisons happen because they both work in the same industry.
Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter is a highly recognized female streamer online.
Due to her popularity, she often finds herself compared to another famous figure, Pokimane.
Valkyrae discussed these comparisons during a YouTube stream on October 17.
A viewer wrote on her subreddit, asking, “Why does she look like Pokimane?”
Valkyrae reacted by saying, “Dude, I am Asian!”
She explained that she is a German-Filipino woman with wavy hair.
She mentioned that she believes Pokimane has curly hair, which differentiates them.
Valkyrae stated, “This is my natural hair, okay? I don’t think Poki and I look alike.”
She added, “I do take it as a compliment, because she is so beautiful — but it is baffling to me.”
Valkyrae expressed that the comparisons might happen simply because they are both streamers.
She pointed out that Pokimane is Moroccan and not Asian, saying, “Poki’s not even Asian.”
Valkyrae feels that if she and Pokimane worked in different fields, no one would compare them.
Despite her frustration with the comparisons, Valkyrae emphasized that she appreciates receiving compliments about her looks.
However, not all fans share her viewpoint. One commenter on YouTube remarked, “Twins… I think Rae is gaslighting.”
Another fan noted, “There are definitely some vague similarities between them. In certain photos side by side, if you squint your eyes a little bit, you can see it.”
This isn’t the first time Valkyrae has faced comparisons to fellow female streamers. Back in August, she responded to a fan’s claim that she thought she resembled someone named Jodi just because she dyed her hair purple.
Valkyrae expressed her discontent, saying, “It feels odd to be compared to other women just because of my hair color. Many women have hair, so what do you want me to do?”
She has made it clear that she will not shy away from defending herself against online criticisms. Recently, she clapped back at a troll who said she was “expired” for dressing up in a “schoolgirl” outfit at the age of 32.
