TwitchCon 2024 Erupts in Controversy as Kick Streamers Accused of Outrageous Harassment and Violence!

Published On:

Creators online are expressing their concerns after some Kick streamers were accused of harassing other influencers at TwitchCon San Diego.

TwitchCon is a big event that brings together popular streamers for a weekend filled with meet-and-greets, panels, and challenges.

While some chaos is expected at such events, TwitchCon 2024 saw negative incidents involving Kick streamers.

One Kick streamer faced backlash after viewers alleged that they sexually harassed Twitch stars nmplol and Wake Wilder by licking and kissing them during a fan meet-up.

This same streamer also made strange comments to xQc, who labeled them a “weirdo” and left quickly as they kept following him.

Another Kick streamer got into a fistfight with Twitch star Erobb, accusing him of cheating on his girlfriend during a live-streamed argument.

These events left many content creators frustrated with the behavior of Kick streamers at TwitchCon.

YouTube star Ludwig, who also attended the event, believes that the actions of some Kick streamers are hindering the platform’s growth.

He tweeted that he has seen many clips of Kick streamers engaging in harassment at TwitchCon.

Ludwig feels that the behavior of certain streamers is one of the main reasons why the platform struggles to succeed.

In light of these troubling incidents, many creators expressed their dissatisfaction with how Kick streamers behaved at TwitchCon. Notably, Ludwig mentioned that the misbehavior of certain streamers is holding the platform back from reaching its full potential.

He shared his thoughts on social media, noting the numerous disturbing clips he has come across featuring Kick streamers acting inappropriately at the event. Ludwig believes that these behaviors are a significant barrier to Kick’s success.

Jeff Stegner, a product manager for Elgato, suggested that TwitchCon should consider restricting or prohibiting in-real-life (IRL) streaming altogether. In a tweet, he stated that he would fully support banning IRL streams from the event, or at least limiting them to Twitch ambassadors.

He emphasized how frustrating it is to see individuals attend TwitchCon just to cause trouble for views, detracting from what should be a fun gathering.

Additionally, Twitch partner Queen Ti weighed in, stating that the odd actions of Kick streamers are making the platform look worse in the eyes of the community.

Another prominent voice, Tectone, addressed the situation during a broadcast. He expressed shock at how Kick streamers were harassing innocent attendees. Tectone shared that it is outrageous there are reports of creators feeling unsafe due to these actions.

He recounted how during a live stream, a Kick streamer not only pushed another creator toward a moving train but also behaved in a manner that many considered reckless.

While Kick has announced improvements to their moderation policies, these incidents raise questions about how to effectively manage the actions of streamers on the platform. The community is left wondering when, or if, significant steps will be taken to address this concerning behavior.

In response to the backlash, Kick’s CEO, Edward Craven, took to social media to clarify that the unruly conduct of certain streamers does not represent the entirety of the platform. He thanked Twitch for hosting such an important event and committed to improving policies for future gatherings.

Craven acknowledged that some streamers had been suspended for their conduct during TwitchCon and assured users that the company is actively reviewing its guidelines to better protect attendees and maintain a positive atmosphere at events.
