Twitch has made improvements to its clip editor for the first time in many years.
The updates introduce new features that enable users to easily create videos styled for TikTok.
This tool quickly gained popularity after its initial release, and Twitch has consistently worked to enhance its functionality.
On August 28, 2024, Twitch announced the latest changes to its clip editor.
These new features simplify the process of generating vertical videos for sharing on various social media platforms.
Twitch mentioned in a post that “When you create a clip, we will auto-generate a portrait version that can easily be shared to social for discovery.”
The new clip editor allows users to edit both horizontal and vertical video formats simultaneously.
For the regular horizontal clips, users just need to select the section and length of the video they want to highlight.
After making their selection, they can name the clip and hit publish.
To create a TikTok video, all that is required is to click the “Edit Layout” button below the vertical clip option.
This enables users to choose specific parts of the stream to emphasize and even include a second video source.
For instance, Twitch’s blog showcases a video with the streamer’s webcam layered over their gameplay.
Once users select their preferred layout, Twitch will remember these settings for future clips.
Users can now easily save both the horizontal and vertical versions of their clips, and they can also directly send them to TikTok or YouTube if they are linked to their accounts.
This enhancement is ideal for streamers and content creators who wish to share snippets of popular Twitch broadcasts on platforms like TikTok and YouTube.
This feature also benefits streamers who support their fans by enabling them to run channels focused on their content. For example, Twitch streamer Hasan was surprised to learn that a fan had completely paid off his college expenses by monetizing a channel filled with clips from his streams.
