A large earthquake struck Los Angeles, California, and it was broadcast live on Twitch.
Streamers Ronaldo and Lacy from the FaZe Clan were woken up by the tremors.
The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.7 and hit just north of Los Angeles on the morning of September 12, 2024.
People across the area felt the shaking.
Many took to social media to share their experiences and discuss the earthquake.
It became a trending topic on platforms like X and Threads.
During a special Twitch event called the FaZe “clipathon,” Ronaldo was jolted awake by the quake.
He jumped out of bed and tried to understand what had just happened.
Ronaldo exclaimed, “Oh my f*cking god… what the f*ck was that?” as he reached for his phone.
However, he quickly calmed down and went back to sleep just a few minutes later.
He ended up sleeping for several more hours.
FaZe Lacy was also affected by the earthquake while he was asleep.
He woke up in a similar manner to Ronaldo.
Both Ronaldo and Lacy live in a content house in Los Angeles with other streamers like Jason and Max.
They are also taking part in the same month-long streaming event.
Just a couple of days before the earthquake, the group had a Kanye West impersonator on their stream.
They used him to get free food from McDonald’s.
The earthquake not only startled the streamers but also caught the attention of viewers online. As news of the 4.7 magnitude quake spread, countless people commented on their experiences across social media platforms, turning the event into a trending topic.
During a special event on Twitch named the FaZe “clipathon,” streamer Ronaldo was abruptly awoken by the shaking. He leaped out of bed, confused and trying to make sense of the commotion around him. “Oh my f*cking god… what the f*ck was that?” he said, reaching for his phone to check what was happening.
After a brief moment of panic, Ronaldo calmed down and returned to bed, continuing to sleep for several hours afterwards.
FaZe Lacy, also residing in the same house as Ronaldo, experienced a similar shock upon being woken by the quake.
Both streamers, along with fellow content creators Jason and Max, live in a house in Los Angeles dedicated to producing content for their fans, and they’re all participating in the “clipathon” for the month.
Just two days prior to the earthquake, the group had fun with a Kanye West impersonator as part of their livestream. They cleverly used this guest to prank McDonald’s into giving them free food.
This event isn’t the first time a Twitch streamer has documented an earthquake in real-time. Not too long ago, other streamers in New York also found themselves in a similar situation when a 4.8 magnitude quake rattled the city.
In another incident, a Japanese Twitch streamer named Shiori broadcasted the moment a 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook her surroundings on January 1, 2024, leaving her audience in shock as her home trembled.
