Twitch star Shroud, known for his past as a CSGO professional player, discovered a unique way to regain his composure while playing Marvel Rivals.
During a recent stream, he found that taking a quick look at his bank account helped him calm down and alleviate his frustration.
Marvel Rivals is rapidly emerging as a strong competitor in the hero shooter genre, garnering significant attention and praise since its launch.
However, like many competitive games, it can also be stressful, even for top-tier players.
This was true for Shroud on December 15, when he felt the pressure while playing the game.
In the heat of battle as Winter Soldier, he expressed his frustration with his teammates.
After being defeated, he vented, saying things like, “We have bad teammates. I’m getting frustrated. It’s hot here. I’m really starting to feel upset.”
He wondered how to reset his mindset to get back into the game.
As he prepared for his next respawn, a viewer suggested that he check his bank account.
This prompted him to grab his phone and check his finances.
At that moment, he switched to playing as Hawkeye and returned to the game, trying to focus better.
While focusing on his bank account clearly helped, Shroud also managed to turn things around in-game. He quickly eliminated three enemies, taking down half of the opponent’s team. Although he attempted to carry his teammates, he ultimately couldn’t secure a win.
Frustrated but in a lighter mood, he joked, “I typed, ‘My team is terrible,’ but it got censored,” acknowledging his mixed feelings about the match.
Despite not being able to fully salvage the game, looking at his financial success provided Shroud with a mental boost. As reported by TwitchTracker, he has over 6,200 active subscribers, which could mean he earns more than $31,000 per month just from subscriptions.
When factoring in income from Twitch advertisements and company sponsorships, it’s evident that Shroud’s earnings are substantial enough to keep him calm even during the most challenging gaming sessions.
His experience highlights the pressures competitive gaming can impose on players while also demonstrating how a positive outlook—whether financial or mental—can help in overcoming frustration.
