Shroud Faces Backlash for Shocking Gambling Stunt During Charity Stream: Is His Reputation in Jeopardy?

Published On:

Shroud is receiving criticism for gambling during a live stream on February 1.

This was part of his ongoing Fragathon charity event, where he streams for a month.

During the stream, Shroud, a former professional Counter-Strike player, was seen spending money for in-game currency to open virtual card boxes.

Many viewers were unhappy with his choice to include gambling as part of the charity event.

Some pointed out that the gambling site used is also a sponsor for the event.

One viewer shared a clip on the LivestreamFail subreddit, stating, “Shroud gambled $600 in just 20 seconds on a charity stream.”

This clip gained more than 100K views on Twitch and sparked many comments on Reddit.

One user expressed disappointment, asking, “How did he fall so low?”

Another person remarked, “Shroud lost my respect for this behavior.”

Comments continued, with some pointing out Shroud’s wealth and questioning why he would still seek more money through gambling.

It was reported that during the stream, anyone who mentioned the gambling website was quickly muted.

Another user claimed that Shroud was promoting fake odds during the stream.

In the charity event, donations, subscriptions, and bits will all go towards helping children affected by cancer.

Shroud initiated the Fragathon event on January 4 but had to delay it due to wildfires in Los Angeles.

He managed to raise over $575K so far, with the event scheduled to wrap up on February 8.

Shroud has come under heavy scrutiny for engaging in online gambling during a live stream on February 1. This incident occurred while he was participating in his month-long charity event called Fragathon, where he commits to daily streaming.

In this particular stream, Shroud, who previously played professionally in Counter-Strike, was observed using real money to buy in-game currency, which he used to unlock virtual card boxes in search of rare trading cards.

His decision to incorporate gambling into the charity event did not sit well with many viewers. They were particularly concerned that the gambling site he was using is also a sponsor of the Fragathon.

A viewer named toby30356 shared a clip on the LivestreamFail subreddit, detailing that Shroud had gambled $600 within just 20 seconds during the charity stream. This video quickly garnered over 100,000 views on Twitch and led to a flurry of comments on Reddit.

One user lamented the situation, wondering how he could have fallen so far. Another commented, stating they had lost respect for Shroud due to his actions.

Many comments highlighted Shroud’s considerable wealth, questioning why he felt the need to engage in gambling for additional money.

Reports also indicated that users who attempted to discuss the gambling site during the stream were immediately silenced.

There were accusations that Shroud was misleading viewers by promoting false odds throughout the gambling segment of his stream.

The Fragathon charity event is focused on donations, subscriptions, and viewer support to assist children with cancer. Shroud kicked off the event on January 4, although he had to postpone it temporarily because of the wildfires affecting Los Angeles.

Despite the controversy, Shroud has successfully raised more than $575,000 so far, with the event expected to conclude on February 8.
