Twitch streamer xQc has spoken out against Epic Games.
He criticized the company for giving special treatment to streamers Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed.
xQc called this decision an “L move” during a Fortnite marathon stream.
This marathon started just after Christmas when Kai and Speed announced they would play continuously until they won a game.
However, their popularity led to an unavoidable problem.
They faced stream snipers, which is when viewers try to target a streamer in-game by knowing where they are live.
To handle the issue, Epic Games gave the two streamers the ability to instantly ban any stream sniper, just by reporting them.
When xQc learned about this, he expressed his disapproval on X/Twitter.
He said it was a bad decision, stating, “I think that’s brain-dead.”
He added that it was unfair, saying, “If you give special treatment, give it to everybody. Everybody’s as valuable.”
xQc clarified that he wasn’t jealous of the special treatment.
He insisted that it’s about fixing the game and helping everyone instead of just a select few.
This opinion stirred up mixed reactions from his fans.
Some understood xQc’s frustrations and pointed out that he has gone through a lot of stream sniping himself.
Eventually, Colin and Speed were able to finish their marathon after a marathon of 57 hours and enduring 206 losses before finally achieving victory in their 207th game.
The challenge became increasingly intense as they neared the end. In a final 2v1 situation, Kai was knocked out, but Speed managed to secure the win in a tense 1v1 battle against the last opponent, allowing them to conclude their streams.
Earlier in December, xQc and Kai had a brief feud where they showcased their wealth to each other, but they later reconciled.
Opinions on xQc’s comments were divided. Some fans pointed out that knowing the level of stream sniping he has experienced would help others comprehend his viewpoint.
Others suggested that Kai and Speed should implement a stream delay, which many streamers use to avoid being targeted by stream snipers. One fan remarked, “Just add a delay and call it a day, or treat everyone the same. No one is special, including them.”
On the contrary, others felt that the special privileges granted to these two popular streamers were justified. “If they had to deal with stream snipers, their marathon would never end,” claimed one supporter.
Another fan noted that they are the most followed streamers teaming up with one of the biggest games, suggesting that some level of protection was to be expected in this scenario.
