Updated On:

With the ever-increasing number of streamers across various streaming platforms, the need for gaming laptops capable of supporting demanding games also continues to increase.

Getting an affordable gaming laptop is possible, and the best budget laptop for streaming in my opinion is Razer Blade Pro 17 – it has a powerful CPU and GPU, allowing smooth simultaneous gaming and streaming.

I have tested several other models as well and compiled a list of the best budget laptops for streaming based on their performance, to help you buy a serious gaming laptop without spending too much money.

Getting a powerful laptop for not too high a price is relatively simple; you need to know where to look. My guide is one of those places.

Each of the machines on the list is a budget streaming laptop designed to provide a cutting-edge gaming experience, with relatively small differences in performance between all of them.

But which one is the best? Read and find out.

1. Razer Blade Pro 17

Top choice

Razer Blade Pro 17

Stefan’s Take:

I am a big fan of Razer and its streaming equipment, so it’s not a big surprise that their Blade Pro 17 is my top choice.

I tested several high-demand games (Resident Evil and CoD) and it has not phased. Both the game and the live stream ran smoothly, so I think that this is the laptop that can handle any task. I think 1 TB of storage would be better, but realistically, 512 GB is enough for most streamers.

CPU 10
GPU 10
Connectivity 10
Storage 9

Razer is without a doubt one of the best gaming equipment manufacturers, known for providing high-quality components, as well as entire setups, at a fairly reasonable price.

Why do I think Razer Blade Pro 17 is the best among these?

This laptop features a metric ton of processing power and one of the best dedicated graphics cards on the market right now, supporting high graphics settings without any lag or loss in frame rate.

Starting with the CPU, Razer Blade Pro 17 contains an Intel Core i7, specifically i7-10875H, a powerful eight-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz (turbo up to 5.1 GHz).

Designed for the most demanding tasks, this CPU is a great choice to put in a Twitch streaming laptop.

Moreover, it has NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, a professional-grade dedicated GPU with 12 GB DDR6 memory.

This graphics card is way ahead of the curve, allowing you to stream even the most demanding games easily. I tested it on several demanding games and didn’t notice any lags or drop in FPS.

And if that is not enough, there’s the option to upgrade to an even more powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. You are unlikely to find a more powerful GPU even for pc gaming.

RAM is of the DDR4 variety, as is the norm for gaming laptops, and there is 16GB of it, clocked at 2933 MHz, which is more than enough for streaming Twitch and playing video games and likely to remain so for quite a few more years.

However, what I see as both positive and negative is the laptop’s storage.

While it does feature quite a fast SSD, it only has 512 GB of storage, which might be too little for someone looking to have access to twenty different games all at once.

But then, that is why Twitch streaming is usually done on a PC.

Additionally, the 17-inch screen on this thing possesses Ultra HD capability at a massive 120 Hz refresh rate, making it an excellent laptop for streaming as it can deliver detailed images well beyond what you would expect from it.

I really liked the finishing touches on the laptop.

The backlit keyboard performed admirably during testing, with a quick response time and no lag, and decent battery life allowed us to play a few games of Apex Legends on the balcony during the coffee break, not having to worry about the laptop suddenly shutting down or even displaying low battery warning.

In the end, while not precisely a cheap laptop, Razer Blade Pro 2017 is a compact streaming laptop that is also incredibly powerful.

Streaming games on this thing was easy, online gaming with the stream off even easier, even at maximum settings, while the FPS on medium to high settings was nearly off the charts.

Indeed an excellent gaming laptop.

Pros
  • Stunning game graphics
  • Great for Twitch streaming
  • HD IPS display
Cons
  • Only 512 GB SSD

2. Acer Predator Helios 300

Best price-to-value laptop

Acer Predator Helios 300

Stefan’s Take:

Not being able to stream in 4K is a big con in my book, but overall, considering the price, this is still a great laptop. I set the game settings to high when I’m live streaming, and the laptop handled both tasks quite well. When I was focused on a single task, the laptop performed even better.

9.5
CPU 9
GPU 9
Connectivity 10

Slightly less potent than the Razer Blade Pro 17, but coming at almost half the price, the Acer Acer predator helios 300 is a cheap gaming laptop for Twitch streaming.

It has everything you would expect in a device of its price range and then some, allowing for some truly excellent gaming experience on the move.

Starting with the CPU, it features an Intel core i7-10750H that can be boosted up to 5.0GHz, a powerful 6-core processor that is sure to satisfy all your Twitch streaming needs.

The thermal paste coming with the CPU is just as high quality, keeping it from overheating even during the most demanding tasks.

The laptop contains a dedicated GPU, specifically NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, an excellent laptop graphics card with 6GB of GDDR6 RAM, and more than enough video memory to run most games on high, and some even on Ultra high settings.

You can also stream games with these graphics, though not a 4K resolution.

Another great feature of this laptop is its RAM, 16GB DDR4 RAM clocked at 2933MHz divided into two slots, containing an 8GB stick.

However, what is even better is that the laptop computer has an extra unused port, allowing you to easily upgrade the RAM in the future if you feel like you need it.

This isn’t the case in most gaming laptops, so it was a pleasant surprise to find it here.

The storage capacity of the laptop is decent, especially as just as with the RAM, there is a slot for an extra hard drive if you decide to do such an upgrade.

The issued drive is an SSD with 512GB of space which isn’t the best, but as I said, there is an extra slot, so I am willing to overlook it, especially in this price range.

Furthermore, I am a pretty big fan of this thing’s 15.6-inch screen.

It does what it is supposed to do, provide you with full HD resolution at a 144Hz refresh rate, just enough for gaming and video editing, while eating less power than most gaming laptops would do.

This translates to a great battery life, which is, as we all know, often one of the most annoying parts of working on a laptop.

This is not the issue with Acer predator helios 300, as its battery can last several hours, even when playing video games if you are watching movies or working in the cloud, even longer.

I should also mention the laptop’s connectivity capabilities. It possesses 4 USB 3.0 ports, as well as Wi-F, Bluetooth, and Ethernet.

All these ways of providing your computer with an internet connection are pretty standard.

Still, the quality of this machine is very high, and getting a stable internet connection was never a problem during testing, even when using Wi-Fi.

Part of it was the internet connection itself, sure, but the laptop itself played an important role as well.

Finally, the backlit keyboard on the laptop is excellent, as is the sound quality. And while I wasn’t the biggest fan of the trackpad, it’s never really used anyway, so it is a minor complaint.

Suppose you are looking for a cheap laptop for streaming. In that case, this one is an excellent starting point.

It outperforms most other laptops in its price range with relative ease, with an apparent 15.6-inch screen, a powerful, dedicated Nvidia GeForce GPU, and long battery life.

Pros
  • Free RAM slot
  • Free SSD slot
  • Price
Cons
  • No built-in HD camera

3. ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo SE 15

Best for professionals

ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo SE 15

Stefan’s Take:

If you’re at the beginning of your career, than this $3000 laptop might be too expensive for you. But if you are ready to invest that kind of money in a laptop, prepare to be amazed.

It has great CPU, GPU, RAM, and with such components, it can tackle any given task. And the extra screen will come quite in handy when live streaming for keeping an eye on the chat or running smaller tasks. In my opinion, considering the price, the battery life should be above 3h.

9.3

A powerful laptop for high-end streaming content, there was no expense spared in building this one.

Asus ROG gaming laptops have always been considered the pinnacle of what you can expect in a streaming laptop, and the 15.6-inch Zephyrus only confirms this statement.

While not a cheap laptop, it promises a lot and delivers more, so I felt like I should include it on this list of streaming laptops.

Starting with its most crucial CPU component, I can already see why this laptop is so powerful. AMD Ryzen 5800H at 3.2 GHz is one of the newest, best CPUs on the market right now, and it grants this streaming laptop unprecedented computing power.

One of the best components available in this category, outshining any intel core i7 processors in its competitors.

The GPU is by now an established standard Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 with 6GB of DDR6 RAM, but I should mention that this laptop for streaming also features a ROG boost.

This technology lets you get even more out of your GPU, allowing it to perform better than it would in a different setup.

Next, the RAM memory is, once again, pretty standard for streaming laptops, but it is once again much better optimized than usual and also faster.

16GB of DDR4 RAM clocked at 3200MHz is more than enough for even the most complicated tasks.

The 1TB SSD is a nice upgrade to the 512GB of its competitors, providing you with plenty of storage for all your favorite games no matter what you decide to do.

You won’t have to worry about running out of storage space with this powerful laptop and will be able to have dozens of games installed all at once.

In the end, this is quite a powerful laptop for Twitch streaming and streaming overall, with its powerful Nvidia GeForce graphics card, a screen that has an incredible 300Hz refresh rate, and an overall clean working experience.

Not to mention that each key of this backlit keyboard has its lighting, or the secondary, 14-inch touchscreen. Asus Rog Zephyrus is, put a marvelous device.

Pros
  • Newest generation CPU
  • 1 TB SSD
  • Free upgrade to Windows 11
Cons
  • Quite expensive

4. Lenovo Legion 7i

Best hard drive

Lenovo Legion 7i

Stefan’s Take:

I choose to test this model for one reason – 1 TB of storage and an empty slot to upgrade it. This is the biggest advantage of this laptop – I liked that I could install whatever program or game, without worrying about running out of space.

When it comes to other specs, it’s an average laptop compared to other models – you can stream and play games simultaneously, but not at Ultra High settings.

9.0

Lenovo Legion is a superbly made laptop for streaming that comes with a variety of customizable options, great battery life, and excellent overall performance.

Video streaming is the very thing this budget laptop was made for, and it showed during testing, as the 15.6-inch screen is very high quality.

Starting with the CPU, the processor in this thing is 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10750H 2.60GHz, with six cores and a maximum clock of 5.0Ghz, more than enough for just about any gaming and streaming task.

In fact, you can safely say that this processor will remain relevant for several more years without any need to upgrade or tweak anything.

The GPU is also great, though some competitors do beat Legion in this regard. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 with 8GB, the graphics card is powerful, yet not as powerful as 3060 and 3080 models found in some other laptops.

Still, this should not dissuade you from buying a Lenovo Legion, as this graphics card is still exceptional and unlikely ever to cause any problems.

It was chosen instead of its more expensive counterparts for optimization reasons, not because the company was trying to make a more budget laptop.

In the end, our internal testing has shown that it can run anything its more expensive cousins can do, with a marginal loss in FPS.

However, one area in which I can safely say Lenovo blows its competitors out of the water is RAM.

This streaming laptop comes with a built-in 32GB of DDR4 RAM, which is more than any on the list so far, and in case that is not enough for you, you can even upgrade it to 64GB, which is way more than any application (or even a group of them) will need. Indeed, the RAM in this laptop is incredible.

Furthermore, the connectivity is also superior to that of the competitors, with multiple USB 3.2 ports, a thunderbolt Type-C port, HDMI and Display ports that allow you to pair it up with an external monitor, an audio jack (which connects both speakers and microphone), as well as the more standard Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0 options.

All these ports allow your Legion streaming laptop to connect to any other device you want to use with it, making it one of the best laptops for streaming currently available.

Moving on to the storage capacity of the laptop, it possesses a 1TB SSD, which I believe should be standard for streaming laptops, as well as a slot for another SSD that supports an additional terabyte of storage, or even more if for some reason you need it.

Once again, Lenovo outclasses its competition with far more storage capacity than any of its solutions.

In the end, my personal opinion of this device is overwhelmingly positive.

Not only that it has excellent connectivity with all of its USB and other ports, but it also possesses a metric ton of RAM meaning, that you can quickly run demanding games (or a million chrome tabs!) with no issues at all.

And the best part about all of this: Lenovo Legion remains a relatively cheap laptop even with all the optional upgrades, costing up to 25% more than an ASUS ROG of the same generation, for example, but losing but a fraction of that power.

Pros
  • Up to 64 GB RAM
  • A lot of storage space
  • Excellent connectivity
Cons
  • The graphics card could be better

5. Acer Nitro 5

The cheapest option

Acer Nitro 5

Stefan’s Take:

This laptop is proof that cheap doesn’t mean bad. It has an amazing AMD Ryzen CPU, and a great GPU, with 32 GB of RAM. I tested several less demanding games to see how they will work, and then switched to more demanding ones and the laptop kept up. The one thing to keep in mind is that more demanding tasks drain the battery quite fast.

I would recommend this model to those that are on a tight budget.

8.8
CPU 9
GPU 9
Connectivity 8

Acer nitro is currently the best series of Acer laptops.

These devices are fast, reliable and above all else, very well optimized for extended battery life.

My testing has also shown this to be an excellent gaming laptop and a streaming one. So, without further ado, let’s get right into it.

First of all, this laptop features an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX Octa-Core Processor 3.3GHz that can be further boosted up to 4.6GHZ, one of the best mobile processors on the market and one of the most reliable ones, running 16 threads to allow for even greater computing power.

No matter what you do on your laptop, this CPU is sure to process it quickly.

Another great feature of this laptop is the sheer amount of RAM. Like Lenovo Legion, it starts with 32GB of DDR4 memory, clocked at 3200MHz.

Unfortunately, there is no way to preorder more RAM than that, but 32GB is already guaranteed to be more than enough for just about any task, so the lack of a 64GB option isn’t much of a drawback.

On the other hand, however, I was greatly impressed by the video quality provided by the 15.6 inch HD IPS display on this laptop.

It works at a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and has a refresh rate of 165Hz, which is optimal for a gaming laptop.

Moving onto the GPU, I can only say that Acer nitro takes the top spot on this one.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU is the best of the best when it comes to mobile graphics, with 8GB of dedicated GDDR6 VRAM.

This thing is so powerful that you are unlikely to need an upgrade for at least five years. This fact alone makes Acer nitro deserving of our list of best laptops for streaming.

Still, I have more to cover.

The laptop’s storage capacity is awesome as well, with a 1TB SSD being available by default and an extra slot for a very simple upgrade if you decide you want to store even more stuff on the laptop.

The fact that it uses a super speed drive means it also boots extremely quickly, which can be a great boon as you are as impatient as some of us on the testing and writing team.

The laptop’s connectivity in terms of ports is on par with most of the competitors, although it lags a little behind Lenovo Legion.

You will have access to four USB ports, all of them 3.0, as well as Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth.

Furthermore, the laptop features an HDMI port, which can be useful for Twitch streaming at times.

What puts it firmly on my list of best laptops for streaming, however, is the fact that it has an integrated HD camera, as well as two built-in stereo speakers of very high quality.

The two built-in microphones are also quite good, allowing you to stream without any additional equipment in a pinch when pressed for time.

Additionally, the 4-zone RGB backlit keyboard is great as well, with a very quick response time, and is comfortable to use.

In the end, the testing has shown that Acer nitro is perhaps the best laptop for streaming if you aren’t afraid to make an investment, featuring the best laptop graphics card on the market as well as an incredibly fast AMD Ryzen processor.

If a gaming and streaming laptop is what you need, then Acer nitro is undoubtedly an excellent choice.

Pros
  • Powerful CPU
  • Great graphics
  • Lots of storage
Cons
  • Battery drains quickly

6. ASUS Rog Strix 15.6 Inches

Best for live-streaming

ASUS Rog Strix 15.6 Inches

Stefan’s Take:

While this laptop doesn’t have the newest or most powerful CPU or GPU, it works quite well for streaming thanks to 16 GB DD4 RAM. If you stream just two or three games, it will easily handle any task.

Also, it has all of the ports you might need: for the microphone, external camera, Ethernet WiFi, etc. so you have a complete streaming and gaming experience.

8.5
CPU 8
GPU 8
Connectivity 9
Storage 9

Another ASUS Rog laptop for streaming on my list, this one is a cheap laptop for streaming tailored for those who don’t have or don’t want to spend money on a high-end machine while still having a respectable 15.6-inch laptop that will easily support even the most hardware demanding programs and games.

The CPU in this thing is nothing short of incredible for its price range.

An AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX Processor with a clock of up to 4.6 GHz is sufficient for even the most demanding of tasks and will remain far ahead of the curve for a long time to come, making this ASUS model perhaps the best budget laptop available, at least when it comes to computing power.

The graphics card is incredibly swell and even superior to those found in much more expensive laptops.

Under the hood of this ASUS ROG Strix, you will find NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 working at a clock of up 1802MHz, which isn’t as much as some other graphics have but is still great value for such a cheap laptop.

What I was particularly impressed by was the RAM in this laptop.

Yes, it has only 16GB of RAM, which is a far cry from the 64 or even 32GB that some of its competitors contain, but at least it runs at 3200MHz, which is above average.

Still, 16GB is enough for most tasks and suitable for such a cheap laptop for streaming. It could be more, but then the price would increase, making the computer less of a budget solution.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the laptop’s storage capacity.

Yes, I know that some people will disagree with me and tell me that 512GB is more than enough storage room for a great gaming laptop, but I like to have all my games available on the move, and for that, you need at least 1TB.

Still, as most streamers only stream one or two games, it shouldn’t pose much of a problem in practice.

The laptop’s connectivity is decent, with all the ports you would expect in a mid-range gaming and streaming laptop. USB 3.0 ports, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi are all included, and a headset 3.5 mm jack, allows for a great gaming experience when used with other devices.

In the end, this 15.6-inch laptop does what you intend it to do. It provides a great gaming experience, decent battery life, and good overall performance.

While the amount of RAM and storage capacity could be higher, they are still worth the cost and will provide you with everything you need for your gaming and streaming sessions.

Pros
  • Very powerful CPU
  • Powerful GPU
  • Very reliable
Cons
  • Low on RAM

7. Lenovo Legion 5

Best for under $1000

Lenovo Legion 5

Stefan’s Take:

I didn’t expect much from this laptop when I first ran it, but it was a pleasant surprise. Both GPU and CPU are outdated, but they can still perform quite well. Depending on the game, of course.

I used medium settings for gaming and streaming and didn’t experience any lags or bugs. The battery life is average, but overall, it’s a decent laptop for its price.

8.3
CPU 8
GPU 9
Connectivity 8
Storage 8

Another streaming laptop of the Lenovo Legion line on my list, this one is much more budget-oriented than the last, sacrificing some of the performance to be more affordable.

Still, it is quite a good choice for a prospective streamer working on a tight budget or a college student intending to play video games in their dorm.

First of all, the CPU in this thing is quite powerful, if not top-notch, and will handle most games at medium or even high settings without any noticeable lag.

The laptop contains a 6-core AMD Ryzen 5-4600H processor clocked at a maximum of 4.00Ghz, with 8MB of cache memory. Not ideal, but suitable for most gaming situations.

The GPU is likewise a budget one, an ‎NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660Ti, a graphics card known for its reliability despite not being as powerful as those from the RTX series.

It contains 6GB of dedicated memory, which is just enough to run some of the more hardware-intensive games.

Still, do not expect the same performance from this thing as you would from an RTX 3060, for example.

Unfortunately, the laptop has only 8GB of DDR4 SDRAM, which is enough at the moment, but will likely become obsolete in a few years, preventing you from enjoying high settings in newly released games.

This is by far the weakest point in this laptop and one that makes it such a low-end option.

Additionally, the laptop computer only has a single 512GB SSD, which is usually enough to install and run several games and the accompanying video editing software but might not be enough to satisfy those who want their entire gaming library available on the move.

The connectivity of the laptop, on the other hand, was pretty well handled by Lenovo, with several USB ports readily available, as well as high-quality Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0 capabilities.

You will be able to connect your 15.6-inch laptop to a number of USB-compatible devices or use it as a part of a wireless LAN network with ease. Still, an HDMI port would be nice to have.

What I also liked was the presence of a web camera with a privacy shutter that can handle up to 720p resolution, enough for video calls if not streaming games and pretty decent dual microphones.

In the end, this Lenovo Legion device cannot be called the best laptop for streaming for the simple reason that too much has been sacrificed to keep it affordable.

Still, it is a decent enough gaming laptop and one that should be more than good enough for casual gaming.

Pros
  • Very affordable
  • Good connectivity
  • Lightweight
Cons
  • Outperformed by most of the competition

8. ASUS FX706LI-ES53

Best for beginners

ASUS FX706LI ES53

Stefan’s Take:

This laptop model is the one I would get if I was just starting my streaming career. This is also another model with quite an old CPU and GPU. However, it should be enough for someone that is not yet a pro.

I did test max settings, just for science, and did notice a drop in FPS, so I recommend sticking to medium settings. Until you have more money to invest in a laptop, this is a good option.

8.0
CPU 8
GPU 8
Connectivity 8
Storage 8

Last but not the least is a 17.3-inch laptop from ASUS aimed at those who want the best laptop for streaming they can get without spending a lot of money.

Much like the previous entry, it does sacrifice a lot of power to reduce its price, but we are still looking at a respectable machine that will easily handle casual gaming and streaming without any need to worry about FPS or other sorts of lag.

The CPU in this laptop is nothing to be scoffed at, but it could also be much, much better.

The only laptop on the list to feature a 10th generation intel core i5, Intel core i5-10300H to be precise, this quad-core processor laptop leaves much to be desired; even if the 4.5GHz is quite high, the number of cores isn’t.

The same can be said about the laptop’s GPU. It is good and will support most games much easier, but it is clearly a budget solution.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti 4GB GDDR6 card is the weakest on this entire list, and more hardware-intensive aaa games will show that even if they still run pretty smoothly.

If you are looking for flawless gaming performance, you will need a better graphics card than this one.

Conversely, the RAM has been cut down on as well, with only 8GB of 2933 MHz clocked ram, this laptop lags behind its competition, though it still performs reasonably well. You are likely to need an upgrade in the near future, however.

Following the trend with this particular ASUS laptop, the Storage capacity is mediocre as well, with a single 512GB SSD being all it has to offer.

As I said multiple times already, this is sufficient for budget and casual gaming, but those who want more than that should be looking to buy a laptop with at least 1TB of storage.

The connectivity of this device is decent, with USB 3.0, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth all being present as is the norm, but it does not excuse the many unnecessary cuts in performance for the sake of keeping the cost at a minimum.

In the end, if you are looking to buy a 15.6-inch laptop for gaming and streaming, there are many better solutions out there.

Unless you are really pressed for money and urgently need a new laptop, I would not recommend buying this one.

ASUS has quite a few better 15.6-inch devices for you to choose from, as do other manufacturers.

Pros
  • Quite affordable
  • Decent connectivity
  • Good for casual users
Cons
  • Too much was sacrificed to reduce the cost

What Should You Look for When Buying a Budget Laptop for Streaming?

Performance

Your laptop, cheap or expensive as it is, needs to be of a certain strength to support the hardware-intensive games you want to stream.

As such, when buying a laptop with the intention to stream on it, you should make sure that it can support those games with minimal effort.

Fortunately, the laptops on my list were all internally tested and deemed suitable for gaming, so you should be safe purchasing any of them.

Connectivity

Any PC or laptop that is used for streaming is likely to have a lot of accompanying equipment used alongside it.

So you should make sure that it has as many ports as possible to allow for connecting things such as speakers, microphones, HD cameras, and others that are commonly used in streaming.

Price

When looking at a laptop to stream games on, you are most likely going to use it as a secondary device while mostly streaming from a computer in your home or studio.

As such, you should not spend too much on one and ensure you are getting the best deal for your money.

Luckily, I have extensively tested each of the models on this list, helping you make the best choice for yourself.

Conclusion

There you have it – the 8 best laptops for streaming that fits everybody’s budget. My top three are:

  1. Razer Blade Pro 17 as the top pick,
  2. Acer Predator Helios 300 with the value for the price,
  3. ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo SE 15 as the best for pro streamers.

I hope I have made your search for the budget laptop at least a bit easier and that you’re happy with your new gadget. Happy streaming!
